The larger eye takes a leader loop or a heavy link without binding, and still seats properly in a lead clip.

The lead is attached to a nylon string. The lead itself clips onto the mainline near the rod tips, via the latch. In the event of a fish the lead ejects from the mainline and can then be retrieved via the nylon string.

Pins your line down near the rod tips. The captive versions eject on a take and retrieve on their nylon string.
