Round bended bass hooks are primarily used for Texas-rigging plastic worms and many creature baits. They are designed with a dog leg in the wire near the eye, allowing a rigged plastic worm to sit perfectly straight on the hook when the barb is inserted at just the right distance in the belly of slender bait. This design helps prevent the hook from sliding down the shank and keeps the bait in place during the rigging process. Round bended hooks are particularly effective in Texas rigs, where the space between the hook bend and point allows thin plastics to collapse, giving plenty of bite room to set the hook. Additionally, the offset from the hook eye to the point raises the hook point naturally, often leading to a higher hook-up percentage.
